Day 8 .. November 13, 2007 |
| We are leaving Australia today and heading for Christchurch, New Zealand. When we arrived in Christchurch we immediately visited the International Antarctic Center. We put on parkas and entered a room where there was a simulated blizzard (Exactly what we were trying to get away from in Minnesota). We didn't spend long there before exploring the rest of the museum and artifacts. Christchurch is the main supply base for the American Navy's "Operation Deep Freeze" servicing the Antarctic American Scientific research. It is known as the gateway to the Antarctic. It was a cold day outside as well. |
